Funk and R&B-Rhythm 1
Play the hi-hat (with the right hand) 8 times per bar – i.e. in eighth notes.
Play the snare drum with the left hand on the “usual” beats 2 and 4.
The bass drum always plays double – on 1 and 1u as well as on 2+ and 3.

Play the snare drum with the left hand on the “usual” beats 2 and 4.
The bass drum always plays when the snare drum pauses. Quite a lot of work with the foot machine.

The groove with the number 6 is the first of the funk and R&B rhythms that use 16th notes.
Play the hi-hat (with the right hand) 8 times per bar – in eighth notes.
Play the bass drum on 1 and 3.
Play the snare drum with the left hand on the “usual” beats 2 and 4 and additionally on the sixteenths before the 2nd beat with the bass drum (2a).

The hi-hat occurs quite often this time. Note that you can divide this bar into 2 exactly equal parts.

Pause with the hi-hat in order to hit the snare drum with the right hand on beats 2 and 4.
The rhythm of the bass drum is also quite demanding because of the sixteenth notes.

Play the snare drum on beat 2, the second beat is played one sixteenth note before beat 4.
Play the base drum on 1 and 1+, as well as on 3 and the sixteenth note before count 3.
